Liberty Island

Next on our New York bucket list had to be the Statue of Liberty. A must see for anyone's first time in the Big Apple, although I wouldn't necessarily visit the landmark again.
It's a one time kind of thing.
After our delicious breakfast from The Butcher's Daughter, which I spoke about in my previous post, we headed to the harbour, hopped on a ferry and were soon heading towards Ellis Island.

The harbour is situated right by New York's financial district. So if you're keen to see what it's like to be a Wolf on Wall Street, visiting an hour or so earlier will give you the perfect opportunity to have a wander before the ferry departs.
We eagerly scrambled towards the best position on the ship so that we could get the perfect view of the Statue as soon as it came into view...
Which it soon enough did.
Recognised as a universal emblem of freedom and democracy, the Statue is even bigger in real life than I could ever have imagined.
She's around about 46m including the length of the torch!
It's difficult to believe that the now sea green Statue was once copper, when first gifted to the U.S. by France in 1885.
The monument dominates the entirety of Ellis Island, visible from every corner.
Being October, the weather was relatively warm despite the sea wind. Both my crop top and trousers are Topshop, and my pink jacket (which I have worn to death) is Zara.
Flo's incredible jacket a is one off piece. Majorly envious.
The view from the island is pretty great, you can see most of the skyline along with Brooklyn Bridge.
^Matty and Laura looking like a cute married couple
A great way to spend part of your time in New York.
By this point, we were all getting pretty hangry so were the first to jump on the ferry and back to Manhattan for some much need sustenance.
