Everyday Makeup Routine

It's officially summer, and even though it might not necessarily feel like it here in England, it is the perfect time to rejuvenate your makeup routine. Put away the heavy foundations and adopt lightweight, glow-inducing products. I've collated my current favourites which I use to create a natural look that I wear virtually everyday.

It takes minimal time to apply and with the right preparation can last all day long. This is ideal for someone like me who has long suffered with highly oily skin. After all, who wants mascara running down their cheeks and sliding, patchy foundation?

I create the perfect base for foundation by applying a good moisturiser followed by a primer, ideally with a splash of SPF in there for extra sun protection. I've recently been using the Laura Mercier Foundation Primer SPF 30 which is pricey but in my opinion worth the extra pounds. It smooths the skin and helps to disguise pores, an issue for most of us.
To brighten my under eye circles and highlight the high points of the face, I apply the classic Yves Saint Laurent Touche Éclat. If you are looking for high coverage, this product is probably not for you, but in order to achieve a lovely glow before applying foundation it is amazing.
After much experimentation with foundation and trying to find what works for my skin, I've finally settled on Estee Lauder's Double Wear Light Stay-In-Place Makeup SPF10. It doesn't cause break outs, provides buildable coverage and can barely be felt on the skin. Apt for hot summer days when you want your skin to feel fresh and breathable.
For a flawless base, I then finish with the renowned Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer; infamous in the blogging world for its opulent texture and radiant, high coverage finish. A dusting of powder is then a must for a non-shiny, immaculate base all day long.
Moving onto eyes, I start with MAC's Pro Longwear Paint Pot in Painterly, which is a great nude to even out the skin tone and mattify. I then use my MAC eyeshadow quad for a wearable, subtle eye look. I begin by sweeping Naked Lunch all over the lid and blending it out at the socket line. Then as a crease colour, I apply Haux which is a soft rosy brown, blending well to ensure there are no harsh lines. The classic MAC colour, Satin Taupe, is perfect to add extra depth to the outer corner of the eye in a slight V shape and to complete the look, I apply Phloof! as a highlight on the brow bone and the inner corner of the eye.
Mascara is definitely my go-to makeup product, helping to open the eyes and greatly lengthen the lashes. I've recently been loving the Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara for incredibly volumized and lengthened lashes. Of course, if you're an eyeliner girl then feel free to apply it to your heart's content.
Brows are an essential part of my makeup routine. At the moment, I use the Kiko Eyebrow Sculpt Automatic Pencil which is highly affordable and great for creating fuller-looking brows.
I recently splurged on Charlotte Tilbury's Filmstar Bronze and Glow which is nail-bitingly expensive but oh so beautiful. I apply the darker sculpt colour as a contour shade in the hollows of my cheeks, along my temples and along my jawline. I then use the light, shimmering shade as a highlight along the tops of my cheekbones, down the bridge of my nose and on the cupid's bow. I plan on doing a full review in another post soon so keep an eye out for that if you're interested.
Finally, I use the Rimmel Exaggerate Automatic Lip Liner in Eastend Snob, a muted rosy shade, to add a subtle hint of colour to the lips. Dab a touch of lip balm on top to moisturise and then you're done.
Quick, easy and perfect as an everyday makeup look! I hope you'll try out some of the products and let me know what you think.
